The short answer
If you are going, take the rooftop ticket. The upgrade is 5,00 EUR and one of the things it adds is a second drink. In a city where a beer runs four to six euros in an ordinary bar, that makes the roof terrace close to free. It is the only part of this page that is a recommendation, and it is arithmetic rather than taste.
- 24,95 EUR buys 1.5 to 2 hours, self-guided, with one drink. There is no human guide at that price: the tour is a route through the old brewery with interactive rooms.
- Under-18s cannot go in at all, not even with a parent, and ID is checked. It is the one big Amsterdam attraction that is flatly closed to children.
- Last entry is 135 minutes before closing. 17:15 on most days for a 19:30 close. The opening hour you will see quoted is not the hour you can arrive.
- Go on a weekday morning. The brewery names Saturday as its busiest day and recommends before 13:00, which is unusually straight advice from somebody selling tickets.
What each ticket costs, and what the difference buys
Seven products, from the plain tour to combinations with a canal cruise, a museum and a football stadium. The prices in the second column are what you pay outside the September offer.

The gap between the first two rows is 5,00 EUR, and inside it there is a drink, the roof terrace and another 30 to 45 minutes. A beer in an Amsterdam bar is four to six euros, so the drink alone accounts for most of the upgrade and the view comes with it. That is the whole recommendation, and it holds at the September prices too, because both were discounted by the same five euros.
Above that the maths stops being kind. The VIP tour is 65,00 EUR, which is 35,05 EUR more than the rooftop ticket, and what it adds is a personal guide, five beers instead of two and access to rooms the self-guided route does not reach. Whether a guide and three extra beers are worth thirty-five euros is genuinely a matter of taste, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The hours that matter are the last entry, not the closing time

That is a gap of two hours and a quarter between the last time you can walk in and the time the building closes. It is much wider than at the museums we have measured, where the Rijksmuseum sells its last slot ninety minutes before closing, and it is the single most common way to waste an evening here: the search result says open until 19:30, you arrive at six, and the answer is no.
One exception worth knowing, and it is the same trick the Rijksmuseum has with its shop and cafe: you can go into the Heineken shop without a ticket until 19:00 on weekdays and 20:30 at the weekend. It is not the tour, but it is inside the building and it costs nothing.

Children are not admitted. Not with a parent, not quietly, not at all. Of the attractions we priced in the guide to Amsterdam with children, this is the only one that does not have a child rate because it does not have a child anything. If you are travelling as a family, one adult is sitting this out.
Where to buy it
This is the first attraction we have looked at where the answer is not automatically “the official site”, and the reason is that the platform listing is sold by the brewery itself rather than by a reseller. It offers 5 options and Viator shows it from 15,00 EUR.
We are not going to tell you the tour costs 15,00 EUR there, because that figure is the cheapest of those 5 options and we have not verified which one it belongs to. What is checkable is the condition attached: “All sales are final. No refund is available for cancellations.” The brewery's own site, by contrast, runs a rescheduling service for tickets bought there. If your dates might move, that is worth more than any price difference on this page.
Where the platform clearly does win is the combination with a canal cruise, which the brewery also sells.
Heineken plus a canal cruise, three ways
| Sold by | Price | Rating | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official, Flagship Cruise | 47,95 EUR | Not rated there | - |
| Platform, Heineken cruise with drinks | 40,00 EUR | 4.1 | 488 |
| Platform, Heineken plus 1h cruise | 37,50 EUR | 3.48 | 233 |

Eight to ten euros cheaper on a platform than direct, for what is billed as the same pairing. But look at the third column before you celebrate: the cheapest of them rates 3.48. And if what you want is a boat, our guide to canal cruises found the classic hour going for 16,49 on its own, so a tour at 24,95 EUR plus a boat at 16,49 is 41,44 EUR bought separately, which beats all three of those combinations and lets you pick your own dock.
Two things the two channels do not agree on
Same attraction, same operator, two different answers depending on where you read. We are not resolving these, because we cannot: we are printing both with their source.
Where the official site and the platform listing differ
| On | The brewery's site says | The platform listing says |
|---|---|---|
| Wheelchair access | Says the historic building makes it difficult to be wheelchair friendly | Lists the experience as wheelchair accessible |
| When to arrive on a Saturday | Recommends weekday mornings before 13:00 | Says arrive before 12:00 to avoid queueing |

The accessibility one is the one to take seriously. If you need step-free access, ask the brewery directly before booking anywhere, because its own page is the more cautious of the two and it is the one that knows the building.
The 4.07 rating from over a thousand reviews is the closest thing here to a verdict on the tour, and it is other people's.
